INTACS® Cornea implants by Cornea Associates of Texas
INTACS® prescription inserts provide a unique new option for keratoconic patients who are contact lens intolerant or can no longer achieve suitable vision with contact lenses or glasses. INTACS® are available as an alternative to a corneal transplant for patients with mild to moderate keratoconus.
How do INTACS® work?
Placement of INTACS® in the periphery of the cornea remodels and reinforces it. This causes the central cornea to flatten and restores the natural dome shape.
What is the goal of INTACS®?
The goal of INTACS® is to provide the patient with the ability to achieve improved functional vision and better comfort with contacts or glasses.
What are the risks?
As with any surgical procedure, there are some risks, including infection. Because INTACS® does not involve surgery on the inside of the eye, there is a low risk of complication.
Are INTACS® right for me?
Only a trained corneal specialist can determine if INTACS® are right for you. For more information or to schedule a consultation with one of our physicians, contact Cornea Associates of Texas in Dallas or Fort Worth.
