John F. Haarde II, O.D. Therapeutic Optometrist & Optometric Glaucoma Specialist

Dr. John F. Haarde II is a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist with extensive experience in ocular disease management and surgical co-management. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Texas Christian University, where he also completed a minor in business, before receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry.
During optometry school, Dr. Haarde completed advanced training in therapeutics and glaucoma care and was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. He is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and has been recognized multiple times for clinical excellence in family practice, contact lenses, ocular diagnostics, and pediatrics.
Dr. Haarde currently practices at Sweeney Eye Associates, where he provides comprehensive optometric care with a strong emphasis on ocular disease diagnostics, glaucoma management, and pre- and post-operative care. His clinical experience includes perioperative management of cataract surgery, MIGS procedures, LASIK, PRK, light adjustable lenses, and retinal surgery, as well as medical management of corneal and retinal disease. Previously, he served as Clinical Director at Dallas Eye Care Associates and Walnut Hill Surgery Center.
His advanced optometric training includes cataract surgery management, anterior segment pathology, refractive surgery, brain injury rehabilitation, and specialized ocular disease and glaucoma care through respected institutions and mentors.
Dr. Haarde is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, and the Dallas County Optometric Association. Outside of the office, he enjoys golf, fishing, and spending time with his wife and three children.
