Cataract surgery is one of the most successful surgeries available. Only lasting between 8 and 15 minutes, the surgery is successful and safe. By replacing the cloudy lens of your eye with an artificial lens, Cornea Associates of Texas can improve your vision and your quality of life.
Cataract surgery is the most successful surgery done on any part of the human body and the most common surgery done. This is the procedure, which takes anywhere from 8-15 minutes, is extraordinarily successful and safe. The surgery itself is done through a very small incision through the cornea under local anesthetic or topical anesthetic and through that incision we remove the cloudy lens of the cataract and then we replace it with an artificial lens implant and sometimes we put one stitch in the eye, sometimes we put no stitches in the eye. The procedure is not done with the laser. It is done with a very small machine under a microscope. It is a painless procedure that most patient feel is much easier than they thought it was going to be. We do not do both eyes on the same day. We separate the eyes by anywhere from three weeks to three months. We just want to make sure that you come through your first eye well without any complications before we do your second eye, but most people have both eyes done successfully within a three to four weeks’ period.
