Recovery after LASIK surgery is usually easy and uneventful. Right after your procedure, you will notice that your vision is much better, but it will remain cloudy and a little bit hazy for 24 hours. We will ask you to go home and just keep your eyes closed for several hours. That will help the eyes to recover from the surgery and will eliminate most of the discomfort that you may have. We will see you back in the office the next day, check to be sure that the flaps look okay and to be sure that there are no signs of infection. You will be given several prescription eye drops to use as well as protective eye shield to use at bedtime for about a week. Most activities can be resumed on the first postoperative day, perhaps with some modification. Visual recovery is usually rapid and most people have functional vision within 24 hours. Most people gradually gain their best corrected acuity over the period of several weeks.
