Well now you are coming in for your day of LASIK surgery and you are going to be anxious. I have yet to encounter a LASIK patient yet who was not a little bit nervous when they came in to have their surgery. We give everybody a Valium tablet, which just sedates you a little bit. We cannot have you out cold for LASIK. There are things during the procedure that we have to ask you to participate with us. We have to have you fixate on a blinking light and move your head one way or another. It is all very simple, but you need to be awake to do that, but the Valium helps and makes the anxiety not nearly as bad and I think the other thing that helps with anxiety is for the surgeon need to sit down with you and kind of walk you through the procedure little bit first and tell you what is going to happen and I can tell you that the vast majority of people have this procedure done feel that it is much easier than they thought it was going to be. The procedure is very quick. It is about four minutes per eye, which makes it very doable and I think most people that come in to our office to have LASIK and they get to the procedure, they look back and say, “Gosh! I wish I had this sooner.”
