Statistics on LASIK

We are proud to share the results following LASIK achieved by the doctors at Cornea Associates of Texas. This analysis is based on a retrospective review of 200 eyes with a minimum of 2 months follow up. All patients underwent Wavefront guided LASIK using the VISX Star S4 with Iris Registration technology.

We have analyzed the data and present our results to help answer a prospective patient's question "what are my chances of seeing 20/20 after undergoing LASIK surgery?" The data is presented in bar graph format comparing the percentage of eyes that achieved uncorrected visual acuities (i.e. 20/15 or better, 20/20 or better, 20/25 or better, etc.). The overall results represent the total group of patients (Table 1). In addition, the results are compared among groupings of patients based upon the relative degree of pre-operative refractive error. The refractive error is broken down into several categories, namely low myopia (-0.50 D to -3.00 D), moderate myopia (-3.01 D to -6.00 D), high myopia (-6.01 D to -10.00 D), and hyperopia (+1.00 to +6.00 D). The refractive error represents the spherical equivalent (i.e. combining the degree of myopia and astigmatism).

The overall experience reveals that 94% of our patients achieved 20/20 or better after LASIK (See Table 1). Equally impressive is finding that nearly half of our patients achieved 20/15 or better following LASIK and 100% of our patients achieved a minimum of 20/40 vision. The physicians at Cornea Associates of Texas believe this is related to taking advantage of the most state of the art technology with CustomVue IntraLasik.

We believe our expertise as cornea specialists and our commitment to excellence in every aspect of LASIK is reflected by our outstanding results. At Cornea Associates of Texas, we are committed to providing the highest quality of care to ensure the best possible results for our patients.
